Week 7 - American Literature and 9th Grade Composition

In American Literature we are continuing our novel The Scarlet Letter

This week we also began exploring Hawthorne's use of the Faust Legend in The Scarlet Letter.  

We incorporated Washington Irving's American Faust, "The Devil and Tom Walker".  Students must be prepared to compare the themes relevant tot he "Black man in the forest." between this tale and The Scarlet Letter.
