Exploring Literature Through Film: The Perks of Being a Wallflower / Language and Writing: Active vs. Passive Voice

Monday students either emailed or turned in hard typed and formatted copies of their Letter of Intent (see previous post). Students are expected by this time of their high school careers to be able to type essays and documents using MLA and use technology such as email, create attachments, and upload to email or sites such as Turnitin.com.

Next year is Senior Project. Students will have no option of whether to type their work or not. My goal is to teach students to plan ahead and meet goals. Most writing assignments I give will be assigned with a Monday due date. This is done to allow students time to use the school or public library or some other source if there is not a computer and/or internet service at home.

Week's Lessons

Students be sure to prepare your note cards for the Summer Reading essay on Monday, August 18.

Know:
Author
Title
Plot
Setting
Characters (protagonist, antagonist, sub-characters)
Conflict
Theme
Tone
Mood

Be prepared to discuss these in an analysis of the work - NOT A SUMMARY or retelling of the novel.
