American Literature: Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter

Each day's lesson will be posted in a single ppt within this post to make it easier for students to navigate, and also so I do not need to keep posting the e-text.

Students will be responsible for reading their assigned 1-2 chapters each night, and taking notes on their charts (see chapter 1-2 PPT. Students are to identify Characters, Themes, Quotes, and Vocabulary (they wish to add to the list I provide each day)

For the vocabulary I provide:

Students are to keep a log of all vocabulary. This can be done by using crtl + f to find the word in the etext and copy the sentence in which the word is used. They will then identify prefixes, root word, and suffixes, and define the word within context - *Remember, words during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries may have meant something entirely different from how they are used today. The setting of our novel is in the 1600s, but it was written in the 1800s.

If you can keep a digital copy of this it will be easier and more efficient - plus, you are less likely to lose it.
